A capital of neighbourhoods, ministries and campuses

Ankara is a planned capital, and flower orders from abroad reflect how it is laid out: homes, offices, campuses. Çankaya is the heart of it, with ministries, embassies, Kızılay and Tunalı, and residential areas stretching out to the large gated estates of Çayyolu. North of the centre, Keçiören and Mamak are dense, long-established family districts where many grandparents live in apartment blocks. To the west, Yenimahalle, Etimesgut and Sincan have grown fast with big housing estates, while Gölbaşı to the south, around Lake Mogan, is known for detached houses and quieter streets.

Delivering to offices, ministries and campuses

Ankara is a city of institutions, and that changes how a delivery works. Public buildings and many corporate offices have security checks at the door, and couriers are usually not allowed past the entrance. Write the recipient's full name, department and mobile number so they can come down and collect the flowers in person.

Universities are the other typical destination. Students from all over Türkiye live in dormitories and shared flats around the campuses, and a birthday bouquet is a thoughtful surprise for someone studying far from home. Dormitories usually do not let couriers inside, so the handover happens at the entrance; add the dormitory name and the student's phone number.

Winter on the plateau

Ankara sits on the Central Anatolian plateau, and winters are cold, often with snow. Flowers are handed over in person, never left outside a door or on a balcony, so a correct phone number matters even more between December and February. In the coldest months a potted plant is a long-lasting alternative to a cut bouquet.

Outlying districts such as Beypazarı, Kızılcahamam, Polatlı or Nallıhan lie well outside the city, and their villages may fall to the next delivery day. For a village address, give the village name, a landmark such as the mosque or the muhtar's office, and a phone number. If the address cannot be reached, we contact you.

Etiquette in a formal city

Ankara is a formal place. A promotion, a new appointment or a retirement is traditionally congratulated with flowers sent to the office, and a neat arrangement suits a desk better than a loose bouquet. For families, the familiar moments apply: birthdays, engagements, new babies and Mother's Day, which in Türkiye falls on the second Sunday of May, so plan for the Saturday, as there are no Sunday deliveries. If you are unsure what suits a senior colleague, a teacher or an elderly relative, our guide to Turkish flower etiquette covers the unwritten rules.
