Send Flowers to Turkey from Canada: Cut-off Times & Tips
From a condo in Toronto or a house in Calgary, Türkiye can feel very far away, right up until a birthday comes round in Ankara or a new niece arrives in Bursa. Turkish Canadians live across the Greater Toronto Area, Montréal, Ottawa, Vancouver and Calgary, and plenty of Canadians without Turkish roots have in-laws, friends or former classmates there as well. Sending flowers to Turkey from Canada works the same way from every province, but two things are different from ordering for someone at home: Canada stretches across six time zones, and your card is charged in Turkish lira. This guide walks through both, along with the dates, addresses and Turkish phrases that make a difference. The general ordering steps are in how to send flowers to Turkey from abroad.
Nothing crosses the Atlantic
Your bouquet isn't shipped from Canada. Once you order online, a local florist close to your recipient hand-ties it and delivers it in person, and you receive a photo of the delivery by email and WhatsApp. No customs declaration, no cross-border tracking number, no flowers waiting in a depot. We deliver to all 81 provinces of Türkiye, down to neighbourhood (mahalle) and village (köy) level.
The 2 p.m. cut-off, zone by zone
Orders placed before 2:00 p.m. Türkiye time are delivered the same day in the major cities; deliveries to remote villages may take until the next day. Türkiye stays on UTC+3 all year and has no daylight saving time. Canada moves its clocks on the second Sunday of March and the first Sunday of November, so the cut-off in your local time shifts by an hour twice a year:
- Newfoundland (St. John's): 7:30 a.m. in winter, 8:30 a.m. in summer
- Atlantic (Halifax, Moncton, Charlottetown): 7:00 a.m. in winter, 8:00 a.m. in summer
- Eastern (Toronto, Ottawa, Montréal): 6:00 a.m. in winter, 7:00 a.m. in summer
- Central (Winnipeg): 5:00 a.m. in winter, 6:00 a.m. in summer. Most of Saskatchewan doesn't change its clocks, so in Regina and Saskatoon it's 5:00 a.m. all year.
- Mountain (Calgary, Edmonton): 4:00 a.m. in winter, 5:00 a.m. in summer. Yukon stays on UTC-7 all year, so Whitehorse is at 4:00 a.m. year-round.
- Pacific (Vancouver, Victoria): 3:00 a.m. in winter, 4:00 a.m. in summer
Nobody wants to set an alarm for that, so the practical rule is simple: order the evening before. At 9:00 p.m. in Toronto it's already 4:00 or 5:00 a.m. the next day in Türkiye; at 9:00 p.m. in Vancouver it's 7:00 or 8:00 a.m. Either way, the florist has your order hours before the cut-off for that Turkish date. Always pick the delivery date in Türkiye's calendar, not yours.
Time slots and weekends
If you choose a time slot, it's set in Türkiye time: morning 9 a.m.–1 p.m., afternoon 1–6 p.m. and evening 6–9 p.m. (the evening slot has a surcharge, shown before you pay). In Eastern time, Türkiye's whole delivery day runs from 1:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in winter and from 2:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in summer, so even the evening slot is over by your early afternoon. On the Pacific coast it ends at 10:00 or 11:00 a.m.
There are no deliveries on Sundays or on Turkish public holidays: 1 January, 23 April, 1 May, 19 May, 15 July, 30 August, 29 October and the days of Ramazan Bayramı and Kurban Bayramı. Victoria Day, Canada Day, Labour Day and Thanksgiving are ordinary delivery days in Türkiye, unless they happen to fall on a Sunday.
Weekends need a little planning. A Friday-evening order from anywhere in Canada reaches Türkiye in the early hours of Saturday, in good time for a Saturday delivery. But by Saturday lunchtime in Canada it's already Saturday evening in Türkiye, so a Saturday order placed after your early-morning cut-off goes out on Monday.
Paying with a Canadian card
Prices on the site can be shown as an approximate amount in your chosen currency, but your card is charged in Turkish lira (TRY). A few points that matter in Canada:
- Visa or Mastercard. Credit cards work, and so do debit cards that carry Visa Debit or Debit Mastercard. A debit card that only runs on the Interac network can't be used for this kind of online payment.
- Your bank does the conversion. The lira amount is converted to Canadian dollars at your card issuer's rate, so the figure on your statement can differ slightly from the estimate you saw on screen.
- Foreign transaction fees. Many Canadian cards add a fee on purchases in a foreign currency; some travel-oriented cards waive it. Check yours if you send flowers to Türkiye often.
- 3-D Secure. You confirm the payment with a code by text or in your banking app. If your bank flags a payment to a Turkish merchant, approve it there and try again.

Dates and phone numbers
Canada mixes date formats: forms often use year-month-day, while everyday writing can be day/month or month/day. Türkiye always writes the day first, separated by dots, so 08.05.2027 means 8 May. If you mention a date in your card or delivery notes, write the month as a word. Turkish mobile numbers look like +90 5XX XXX XX XX; add the recipient's number with the +90 code so the courier can call if they can't find the door.
Occasions on both calendars
- Mother's Day: Canada and Türkiye celebrate on the same day, the second Sunday of May (9 May in 2027). As we don't deliver on Sundays, Mother's Day flowers in Türkiye arrive on Saturday 8 May. It's one of the busiest days of the year, so order several days ahead.
- Father's Day: also the same in both countries, the third Sunday of June, so here too the bouquet arrives on the Saturday.
- Valentine's Day: 14 February 2027 is a Sunday; choose Saturday the 13th or Monday the 15th.
- Birthdays and anniversaries: see our birthday flowers or go for roses.
- New baby: Turkish families welcome a lot of visitors after a birth, and a new baby bouquet means you're part of it from afar.
- Bayram and Teachers' Day: a bouquet in the days before Ramazan Bayramı or Kurban Bayramı is a warm gesture, and Teachers' Day on 24 November is a much-loved tradition.
- Condolences: Turkish funerals usually take place within a day, which is hard to follow from Canada. Read condolence flowers in Turkey before ordering.
Some colours and numbers carry a different meaning in Türkiye; our guide to Turkish flower etiquette explains them.
Where your flowers can go
Senders in Canada often choose Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Bursa and Antalya, and family roots lead to smaller towns and villages all over Anatolia. Within big cities, it helps to know the district: Kadıköy in Istanbul or Çankaya in Ankara, for example. Search any province, district or neighbourhood on our delivery areas page; you can type without Turkish characters, so Cankaya finds Çankaya.
Writing a Turkish address
A Canadian address starts with the unit and street and ends with the province. A Turkish one runs the other way, from large to small:
- İl (province), e.g. Ankara
- İlçe (district), e.g. Çankaya. The delivery fee depends on the district and appears in the cart before you pay.
- Mahalle (neighbourhood) or köy (village)
- Cadde (avenue) or sokak (street), building number and daire (apartment number)
Many families live in gated apartment complexes called site; add the complex name and block. In a village without house numbers, a phone number and a landmark such as next to the mosque or opposite the school make all the difference. For remote villages, ordering a day early gives the florist comfortable time for the drive, and if an address turns out to be hard to reach, we contact you.
Card message: a few words in Turkish
Your card can hold up to 300 characters. Write in English and we can add a hand-written Turkish translation free of charge, so a grandparent can read it without help. If you'd like to write a line in Turkish yourself:
- Doğum günün kutlu olsun! – Happy birthday!
- Anneler Günün kutlu olsun, anneciğim. – Happy Mother's Day, Mum.
- Babalar Günün kutlu olsun. – Happy Father's Day.
- Aramızda okyanus var ama kalbim hep yanında. – There's an ocean between us, but my heart is always with you.
- Hayırlı olsun! – Congratulations (on a new home, a new job or an engagement).

Frequently asked questions
What time do I need to order from Canada for same-day delivery in Turkey?
Before 2:00 p.m. Türkiye time. That is 6:00 or 7:00 a.m. in Toronto, 4:00 or 5:00 a.m. in Calgary and 3:00 or 4:00 a.m. in Vancouver, depending on daylight saving time. The easiest way is to order the evening before.
Can I pay with a Canadian debit card?
Only if it carries Visa Debit or Debit Mastercard. A debit card that works only on the Interac network can't be used. Canadian Visa and Mastercard credit cards normally work.
Why does my statement show a different amount?
Your card is charged in Turkish lira, and your bank converts that to Canadian dollars at its own rate, sometimes adding a foreign transaction fee.
Is Mother's Day in Turkey the same as in Canada?
Yes, both countries celebrate on the second Sunday of May. As we don't deliver on Sundays, the flowers arrive on the Saturday before.
Can I order on a Saturday in Canada for delivery the same day?
Only early in the morning, before the 2:00 p.m. Türkiye cut-off. By Saturday afternoon in Canada it's already evening in Türkiye, and as there's no Sunday delivery, the order goes out on Monday.
