Send Flowers to Turkey from Germany: A Practical Guide
Germany is home to the largest Turkish community outside Türkiye, and many families there have parents, grandparents or friends in Türkiye. This guide covers what is specific to sending flowers from Germany: the cut-off in German time, paying with a German card, the main occasions and how to write the address and card. For the general process, see how to send flowers to Turkey from abroad.
The cut-off in German time
Orders placed before 14:00 Türkiye time are delivered the same day. Türkiye stays on UTC+3 all year; Germany changes its clocks. So the cut-off is:
- 12:00 German time in winter (CET), when Türkiye is two hours ahead
- 13:00 German time in summer (CEST), when the gap is one hour
The same applies to Austria and Switzerland. Optional delivery slots are set in Türkiye time: morning 09–13, afternoon 13–18 and evening 18–21 (the evening slot carries a surcharge shown before payment). In German winter time the morning slot is 07–11.
There are no deliveries on Sundays or Turkish public holidays, such as 1 January, 23 April, 29 October and the Bayram days. If your date falls on one, choose the working day before.
Paying with a German card
Prices are displayed in euros (or Swiss francs) at the Central Bank of Türkiye rate, but your card is charged in Turkish lira. Your bank converts the TRY amount at its own rate, so the statement may differ slightly, and some banks add a foreign-currency fee (Auslandseinsatzentgelt) for non-euro payments. The payment is confirmed with 3-D Secure, usually in your banking app. Visa and Mastercard credit cards issued in Germany normally work without issue; a plain girocard without a Visa or Mastercard function usually can't pay online abroad. The full breakdown is in how much it costs to send flowers to Turkey.
Occasions German-Turkish families send flowers for
- Mother's Day: Germany and Türkiye both celebrate on the second Sunday of May. As we don't deliver on Sundays, the flowers arrive on the Saturday before. Order a few days early.
- Bayram: many families send greetings to parents and grandparents for Ramazan Bayramı and Kurban Bayramı. Bayram days are public holidays, so we deliver on the days before. The dates move about eleven days earlier each year.
- Birthdays, anniversaries and engagements: mixed bouquets and roses are always safe.
- Get well: a "geçmiş olsun" bouquet to a hospital; include the ward and room number.
- Condolences: funerals in Türkiye usually happen very quickly. See condolence flowers in Turkey.
- Teachers' Day on 24 November: see our Teachers' Day guide.
From Istanbul to small villages
Many German-Turkish families have roots in Central Anatolia or on the Black Sea coast, while other relatives live in Istanbul, Ankara or Izmir. We deliver to all 81 provinces, from Istanbul to small villages. Find the area on our delivery areas page.
Writing the address
Give the il (province), ilçe (district, which sets the delivery fee shown in the cart), mahalle (neighbourhood) or köy (village), then street, building and flat number. In villages without house numbers, add the recipient's phone number and a landmark such as "next to the mosque". For remote villages, order a day early.
Card message in Turkish
Write up to 300 characters in English, German or Turkish; we can add a hand-written Turkish translation free of charge. Phrases that families often use:
- "Anneler Günün kutlu olsun, anneciğim." – Happy Mother's Day, dear mum.
- "Bayramınız mübarek olsun, ellerinizden öperim." – Blessed Bayram, I kiss your hands (a respectful greeting to elders).
- "İyi ki doğdun!" – Happy birthday!
- "Geçmiş olsun." – Get well soon.
- "Sizi çok özledik." – We miss you very much.
After delivery you receive a photo by email and WhatsApp. Questions? Message us on WhatsApp or write to info@flowerturkiye.com. To see today's prices in euros, browse the bouquets.
